About the Role

The CMM Technician performs inspection of machined parts using CMMs to provide data for First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections, working under the direct supervision of the Quality Director.

Responsibilities

  • Pull the correct CMM program and load into the CMM.
  • Stage the part on the CMM and provide detailed information pertaining to if the machine parts meet all Engineering Drawing / Model / Customer requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results to machine operators, quality management, engineering team, and customers when required.
  • Understand the NCMR process, including creating and communicating NCMR information during a Material Review Board meeting.
  • Set up the CMM for inspection based upon priorities established by the Quality Director.
  • Make minor program adjustments when required and once verified by Senior CMM Technician or CMM Programmer.
  • Perform open plate inspection when required to validate CMM data that may be questionable.
  • Perform daily maintenance of CMMs.
  • Be flexible, approachable, and work well with all employees.

Requirements

  • Functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adhere to deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated, including inspection equipment.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to keep a record of time spent and material used.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gages.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and be familiar with common machine tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Must be able to program coordinate measuring machines using Pc-DMIS.
  • Must be able to perform open plate inspection using standard measuring equipment and methods.
  • This position is restricted to US Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Green Card Holders.
