About the Role

The Roadside Service Tech I-Tow is responsible for providing safe and best-in-class roadside solutions for AAA members while ensuring positive member experiences and achieving performance standards. This role involves responding to member service requests, ensuring safety, educating members on issues, and providing services such as jump starts, tire changes, and vehicle entry. Technicians may also provide minor mechanical assistance or tow disabled vehicles, while promoting AAA products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts calls and responds to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination.
  • Locates members and greets them to take action, as necessary, to deal with their emotional state and handle technical aspects of the situation.
  • Assesses the safety of the scene on arrival to ensure the vehicle is in a safe location to provide service.
  • Provides efficient minor mechanical assistance and towing service.
  • Makes a preliminary determination of the best course of action based on all information collected.
  • Asks for assistance if unsure about a certain situation.
  • Provides battery boost as appropriate and follows all safety procedures.
  • Safely tows vehicles according to established Club policies and procedures, AAA towing manual guidelines, or manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Maintains service vehicle and equipment in good safe working order, conducting safety checks.
  • Maintains inventory of tools and products to ensure all service calls can be completed.
  • Follows all traffic and motor vehicle laws as well as safety procedures.
  • Maintains a professional image (self and vehicle) to positively represent the AAA brand.
  • Follows temporarily repaired vehicles to ensure member safety or transports members to their destination if the vehicle is to be towed.
  • Operates in-vehicle MDC computer to receive and update information regarding calls.
  • Collects Club revenue through cash and credit cards accurately based on services rendered.
  • Safeguards confidential information and follows proper guidelines on paperwork according to Club policies.
  • Educates members on AAA battery replacement service and refers calls to appropriate technicians.
  • Promotes other AAA products and services.
  • Works with Dispatch to get members to their intended destinations.
  • Takes special care to prevent damage and injury in locating ideal securing points, understanding and responding to changing vehicle dynamics with something in tow.
  • Supports various fleet locations based on business needs to be flexible and work nights, extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age required.
  • Must be flexible and adapt to work a variety of shifts to cover a 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to work independently with little face-to-face contact with other members of the service team.

Skills

  • Familiarity of electrical troubleshooting preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • $24.00 - $27.00 Hourly
  • Additional $2.75 per hour overnight shift differential on any hours worked between 10pm and 6am.
  • Additional $1.75 per hour evening shift differential for any hours worked between 6pm and 10pm.
  • Additional $1 per hour shift differential for working weekend hours.
  • Differentials can be combined.
