About the Role
Union College seeks an exceptional Vice Dean of Admissions to oversee critical elements of the recruitment and admission process and provide general leadership within the Office of Admissions. This is a full-time, regionally-based position in California, with most duties conducted remotely.
Responsibilities
- Manage a major portion of student recruitment on the West Coast.
- Lead the application review process.
- Oversee the athletics admission process.
- Manage travel for recruitment.
- Serve as a senior member of the Admissions leadership team.
- Influence strategy, mentor colleagues, and lead major operational initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the AVP & Dean of Admissions and Vice President for Enrollment Management.
- Strengthen Union's presence throughout the West Coast.
- Serve as Union's senior admissions representative on the West Coast.
- Increase the College’s visibility and develop long-term relationships with schools, counselors, and communities.
- Shape the college’s national recruitment strategy.
- Exercise exceptional leadership abilities to support and engender camaraderie among the admissions team.
- Foster collaboration, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the professional development of admissions staff.
- Manage and optimize the Admissions Office budget.
- Represent Union to internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrate a commitment to broad diversity and promoting a sense of belonging.
- Demonstrate experience in strategic recruitment and enrollment practices.
- Advise the office on vendor management and assessment.
- Evaluate admission market and enrollment trends.
- Collaborate with key partners throughout the Division of Enrollment Management.
- Foster collaboration and build partnerships both on and off campus.
- Represent Union’s Admissions Office to the college counseling community.
- Strengthen relationships and ensure effective communication with college counselors.
- Serve as the primary admissions partner for Union’s athletics recruitment and admission processes.
- Ensure resources and prioritization are given to objective data reporting, analysis, and evaluation of admission initiatives.
- Utilize data-driven analyses to inform recruitment activities.
- Utilize technology to ensure systems and processes are aligned to effectively communicate with constituencies and to evaluate processes.
Requirements
- Possess a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in selective college admissions.
- Significant experience recruiting students throughout California and the broader West Coast.
- Experience managing a selective application review process.
- Experience managing an athletics admission process for a successful athletics program.
- Experience using Slate to support recruitment strategy, communication, and data-informed decision making.
