About the Role
The Heavy Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all public and non-public areas according to casino standards. This role also serves as an EVS Shift Supervisor, assisting in managing the Environmental Services department on an assigned shift, all within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back of house and restaurants.
- Operate cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment.
- Carry out individual assignments and work with a group.
- Work with various cleaning chemicals.
- Complete light cleaning tasks such as restroom and floor attendant duties as necessary.
- Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.
- Communicate in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Oversee operations of Environmental Services including cleaning of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, public access areas, restaurants and catering/banquet rooms on an assigned shift.
- Assist with instruction and training of EVS staff.
- Maintain exceedingly high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Monitor areas to ensure proper appearance of facilities through checklists and visual inspections.
- Monitor inventory/supplies and recommend purchase of supplies to supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Familiarity with the proper use of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Ability to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be able to work with various cleaning chemicals and agents.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment.
- Effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of various cleaning chemicals.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
- Computer proficiency with office programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and scheduling software preferred.
- Knowledge in the operation of cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment.

- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience a plus.
Education Level
- High school diploma or its equivalency required.
Salary/Compensations
- $16.00
- Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
