Responsibilities
- Develops programs and processes for routine equipment maintenance according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Identifies processes, methods, and programs to maintain equipment at the lowest possible cost and minimal downtime.
- Ensures maintenance work orders are completed timely, cost-effectively, and according to priority.
- Collaborates with operations, dispatch, and quality to prioritize work orders.
- Maintains an optimum spare parts inventory, balancing availability with cost, obsolescence, and shrinkage.
- Performs tests on new equipment to ensure expected functionality.
- Ensures compliance with all company, local, state, and federal safety and environmental policies.
- Manages maintenance employees to ensure productivity, proper training, and efficient utilization.
- Engineers safety into all projects and contributes to the goal of zero accidents.
- Ensures regulatory compliance with FDA, OSHA, EPA, LEPC, local Fire and Police Departments, Health Department, and Weights and Measures.
- Addresses emergency work orders or equipment malfunctions that slow or stop production immediately and cost-effectively.
- Collaborates with equipment vendors and manufacturers to solve equipment needs and issues.
- Coordinates the disposal or sale of obsolete or discarded equipment.
- Manages maintenance activities for plant equipment, property, and facilities company-wide.
- Visits plant sites to audit and observe property, plant, and equipment.
- Coordinates the bidding and selection process for new equipment purchases to ensure the lowest total cost and greatest reliability.
- Assists with plant layout and design.
- Develops annual capital improvement budget.
- Manages approved capital improvements within budget and timeline guidelines.
- Maintains and reports key information to management weekly and monthly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Frequent periods of standing and walking on wet, dry, even, and uneven surfaces.
- Occasional climbing up/down ladders, steps, and equipment.
- Occasional stooping, bending, and kneeling.
- Occasional reaching, pulling, pushing, and grabbing.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional carrying of up to 50 lbs.
Skills
- Demonstrated experience with equipment selection, purchase, and disposal.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and equipment schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficient with basic computer applications.
- Knowledgeable of Concrete fundamentals.
- Excellent decision-making skills.

- Positive attitude toward employees, management, customers, and vendors.
- Excellent work ethic – punctuality, accuracy, and attendance.
Experience Level
- Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a high-capacity production environment.
- At least two years of supervisory experience.
- Batch plant experience is a plus.
Education Level
- High School diploma required.
- Prefer additional training or education in engineering, electronics, or mechanical curriculum.
