About the Role
Altum Health is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Scarborough team, focusing on complex and challenging cases with daily clinical learning and teaching opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Empower and support clients through their recovery using hands-on knowledge, skills, and abilities in the treatment of orthopedic disorders and chronic pain.
- Facilitate rehabilitation and return to work for injured workers.
- Treat clients to enable them to reach their fully functional and work reintegration potential in collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Perform cross-functional and cross-site duties as assigned or requested.
- Provide group education sessions.
- Lead small group learning.
Requirements
- An Occupational Therapist registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- A minimum of two (2) years related experience preferred.
- Experience in the treatment of clients/patients with work-related injuries and/or experience in the third-party health care system preferred.
- Experience with report writing is an asset.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
- Demonstrate initiative.
- Excellent judgement and prioritizing skills.
- Understanding of the detail required for insurance reporting.
- Experience in case management and communication with third-party/referral services desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Commitment to working with clients suffering from acute and chronic workplace injuries.
- Must have successfully completed probationary period, have a good employee record, and satisfactory attendance (for current UHN employees).
- Vaccines are a requirement of the job unless an exemption is provided on medical grounds pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Skills
- Hand therapy (interest or previous experience is an asset).
- Strong FAE and Return to Work planning skills (desired but not essential).
- WorkWell certification (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
