About the Role

As a Phlebotomist, you will obtain quality blood samples using various methods for all age groups, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections. You will respond to medical emergencies and interact with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. This role involves using computer systems, accurate patient identification, specimen handling, and assisting with training.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
  • Perform venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections.
  • Provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes.
  • Partner with team members, fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize a variety of computer programs and systems.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification.
  • Perform quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.
  • Answer phones.
  • Assist with the training of students and new employees.

Requirements

  • Must complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
