About the Role
The Director, Responsible Investing will translate NEI’s stewardship activities into compelling, business-ready narratives that inspire advisors and investors, creating new growth opportunities across all distribution channels. This role supports NEI’s retail and institutional Sales team and their partners for 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Communicate the application and benefits of NEI’s RI stewardship activities using expertise and understanding of Responsible Investing.
- Grow awareness of NEI’s Responsible Investing program by working with diverse stakeholders as the subject matter expert.
- Translate complex stewardship and responsible investing initiatives into compelling, business-focused narratives for advisors and investors in partnership with Sales and Marketing.
- Stay current on NEI’s responsible investing program, stewardship initiatives, engagement activities, industry developments, and research to ensure timely, relevant stories are brought to market.
- Build strong relationships with financial advisors, institutional clients, and credit union partners to inspire RI integration into their business strategies.
- Attend client and prospect meetings with retail and institutional sales teams, delivering high-impact presentations, seminars, and webinars.
- Proactively identify opportunities to showcase RI team’s stewardship activities across different industries.
- Equip wholesalers and distribution partners with persuasive messaging, presentation materials, and content.
- Anticipate and address sales and advisor questions on RI and stewardship, positioning NEI as a trusted thought leader.
- Ensure stewardship messaging is consistently integrated into campaigns, materials, and client touchpoints with marketing and sales.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Business, Sustainability, Communications, Sales or a combination of these and related fields is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have an MBA, CFA, Masters of Sustainability or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience in the sale or support of responsible or impact investing is beneficial with exposure to the principles of RI and understanding the role it plays as a financial concept and financial planning.
- 5+ years’ experience in the investment advice business either within a sales or client portfolio management role.
- Superior skills in relationship building, analysis, research, written and verbal communication and presenting complex ideas in a compelling and impactful way.
- Highly organized and able to maintain multiple relationships both internally and externally.
- The ability to self-start and support key initiatives tied directly to the organization’s core value proposition.
- Experience in an organization that offers RI solutions is an asset.
- Fluent communication skills (written and verbal) in English are required.
- Bilingual skills in French are an asset.
