About the Role

At The Dunfield Retirement Residence, a luxurious community in the Heart of Toronto, we are committed to our residents’ care, happiness, and well-being. We are seeking a Dishwasher for our bustling kitchen. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean and efficient operation, playing a key part in ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our kitchen and supporting a smooth and safe culinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Loading, running and unloading the dish machine.
  • Keeping the dish machine clean and reporting any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
  • Monitoring dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
  • Washing and storing all tableware and kitchenware.
  • Keeping the dish room clean and organized.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
  • Bagging and transporting dish room trash to the designated disposal area according to schedule.
  • Handling tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
  • Delivering and replenishing staff meals in the staff room and ensuring the cleanliness of the serving area.
  • Cleaning food preparation and production areas as required.
  • Being available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Executive chef or immediate supervisor.
  • Stocking supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars.
  • Washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand.
  • Maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
  • Performing general and special cleaning duties throughout the kitchen as required, including sweeping and mopping floors, and ensuring hand sinks are clean, stocked with paper towels, and have hand soap.

Requirements

  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • No previous restaurant experience required.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS is an asset.
