About the Role

The Business Control Office is a Global front office function within Corporate Bank Divisional Control Office, supporting product, sales desks, and supervisors by creating a robust control framework as part of the first line of defence. The team identifies non-financial risks, defines mitigation processes, and develops, implements, and monitors Level 1 controls. This role heads the Trust & Securities Services (TSS) Business Control office Desk within the Corporate Bank Divisional Control Office function and participates in Cross CB NFR projects.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with 1Lod supervisors in managing non-financial risk for the TSS business and act as the primary contact on topics related to NFR, Regulatory & Audit Governance, Control governance, supervision and conduct.
  • Monitor business and operational issues that result in regulatory, reputational, or monetary risk, report to senior management, and collaborate with the business and stakeholders to mitigate these issues.
  • Monitor ongoing/upcoming Audits regionally and globally, understand scope from Auditors, update stakeholders, and attend regular Audit meetings.
  • Support Regulatory reviews from preparation through to engagement.
  • Monitor and partner with TSS Business Supervisors on the remediation of Audit and Regulatory observations, ensuring sustainable and timely remediation.
  • Participate in Global/regional projects and initiatives related to regulatory developments and policies affecting markets.
  • Identify gaps in risk remediation, emerging risks, and control gaps; escalate to Senior business heads and ensure proper remediation.
  • Participate in/run NFR Governance meetings, validate existing risk topics, update progress status, and engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure factual projection of suitable risk rating and mitigation factors.
  • Coordinate and manage key NFR metrics and assessment/delivery to relevant stakeholders, managing information needs of senior management and external stakeholders for data-driven decision making.
  • Play a proactive role in further developing DCO sharing and developing best practices on business process re-engineering and multi-initiative management.
  • Develop professional working relationships with colleagues, the business, and respective supporting teams.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in non-financial risk management domain, preferably within Corporate Bank.
  • Strong background/knowledge of the Trust & Securities Services business.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and management abilities to lead front-to-back risk remediations / regulatory programs and to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities and conceptual thinking with aptitude in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Highly motivated to drive change, self-reliant and structured way of working with high willingness to take responsibility, and ability to deliver highest level of quality under time pressure.
  • Ability to detect and trouble-shoot issues with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong team player, collaborator and ability to work in virtual global teams and within a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
