About the Role

This role supports the development and integration of new legal professionals, guides probationary reviews, and customizes firm mentoring programs. It also serves as a resource for career development, licensing, and policy awareness, while driving legal professional engagement through strategic initiatives and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of Legal Professional onboarding programs.
  • Conduct sessions during onboarding to create awareness of policies and resources.
  • Support Legal Professional integration through check-ins and community building.
  • Guide the probationary review process for Legal Professionals.
  • Customize firm mentoring programs and recommend mentor/mentee matches.
  • Implement training programs to enhance mentoring programs.
  • Create awareness of position and resource availability among students, interns, and legal professionals.
  • Promote the firm’s culture of L&D as a market differentiator.
  • Support programs and initiatives to enhance career development and engagement.
  • Promote awareness of performance expectations in the MyMoFo structure.
  • Serve as a resource for career-related questions and firm expectations.
  • Develop understanding of attorney licensing issues and serve as a resource for compliance.
  • Promote awareness of the firm’s attorney career development policies.
  • Review and suggest changes to legal personnel policies and procedures.
  • Work with local leadership to promote Legal Professional engagement and morale.
  • Implement engagement plans and strategies.
  • Partner with Associate Committee members to promote transparency and communication.
  • Support local Committee members in developing as leaders.
  • Attend local and firmwide Associate Committee meetings.
  • Establish regular meetings with Associate Committee members, Office Managing Partners, and Directors of Administration.
  • Partner with senior Human Resources leadership, Directors of Administration, and the General Counsel’s office on sensitive employee matters.
  • Provide strategic input for firmwide communications to Legal Professionals on compensation, development, and engagement.
  • Conduct exit interviews and review exit interview surveys.
  • Report on exit interview trends and discuss concerns with leadership.
  • Guide and support partners in performance management and talent development.
  • Identify external coaching resources in the region.
  • Ensure preparation and delivery of evaluations consistent with firm standards.
  • Advise on evaluation protocol and standards.
  • Provide oversight for meaningful evaluations.
  • Resolve issues with labor counsel.
  • Interface with Human Resources and Practice Administration on compensation issues.
  • Collaborate to implement Trainee seat rotation and facilitate integration.
  • Drive feedback/evaluation process for trainees.
  • Support confirmation of qualified work experience for trainees.
  • Monitor monthly Legal Professional utilization reports.
  • Report on utilization trends and follow up with partners.
  • Work with partners, HR Team, and labor counsel on attorney terminations.
  • Communicate training needs of Legal Professionals to Attorney Learning and Inclusion Manager.
  • Serve as a local resource for identifying speakers, trainers, and consultants.
  • Develop familiarity with policies related to transfers, promotions, and other transitions.
  • Coordinate with Global Mobility Lead on transfer processes.
  • Review and consult on memos documenting transfers and suggest revisions.
  • Secure practice group and other required approvals for promotions.
  • Drive process for documentation of promotions.
  • Develop familiarity with policies related to individualized employment arrangements.
  • Work with partners to determine availability of proposed individualized arrangements.
  • Secure leadership approvals for individualized arrangements.
  • Review offer letters and generate status change memos for individualized arrangements.
  • Provide insight into issues of importance, nuances of the Regional landscape, and local resources in inclusivity and engagement.
  • Support implementation of and assessment of inclusivity and engagement initiatives and events.
  • Keep current on attorney development, training, and inclusion and engagement issues.
  • Develop relationships with professionals in similar positions.
  • Attend meetings and conferences related to attorney development and inclusion.
  • Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position.
  • Proactively use current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
  • Promote and model the Firm’s Client Service Principles.
  • Ensure compliance with the Firm’s Information Handling Policy.
  • Adhere to the Firm’s General Safety Practices.
  • Travel to regional offices, as requested.
  • Be available for work outside of standard business hours when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Law degree and practice experience at a major law firm preferred.
  • Strong background in Attorney Development in a law firm.
  • Experience in talent and performance management.
