About the Role

The Supervisor, Facility Management provides direct supervision to Facilities Management staff, acts as an operational reference for Project Team Staff, and performs quality, financial, and planning management responsibilities. This role is crucial for maintaining a productive work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and contributing to the hospital's operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the activities and quality of services provided.
  • Coordinates workloads, assigns work duties and tasks, checks, inspects and monitors activities of assigned employees.
  • Completes employee evaluations for assigned employees.
  • Backfills Manager, Facility Operations when required.
  • Reviews work in progress for conformance to job specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Instructs personnel when performance does not comply with standards.
  • Provides direct supervision to front line staff.
  • Performs quality management responsibilities.
  • Performs financial management responsibilities.
  • Performs planning responsibilities including formulating a strategic infrastructure renewal recommendation.
  • Performs personnel development functions to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Performs corporate management functions.
  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year community college program leading to a trade certification in Electrical, Millwright, Carpentry or Plumbing or recognized equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of maintaining multiple communication channels.
  • Ability to implement sustainable/beneficial change.
  • Ability to coordinate many activities concurrently.
  • Ability to handle emergency and/or crisis situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to use all tools/equipment common to the trades.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of department staff positions for training and demonstration purposes.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of Hospital accreditation requirements, industry standards, Hospital policies and procedures, financial control principles, Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Infection Prevention and Control Standards and environmental waste management regulations.
  • Demonstrate experience and working knowledge in facilities management within a healthcare environment, ensuring efficient and compliant infrastructure and support services.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office with the ability to generate spreadsheets and reports.
  • Ability to create simple drawings with Microsoft Visio or equivalent.
  • Ability to read blueprints and Technical drawings and manuals.
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.
