About the Role
Join Dell Technologies as a Senior Principal Engineer (Electrical) on the Engineering Technologist team in Austin, Texas. This role involves leading electrical architecture and technical strategy for next-generation laptop platforms, guiding engineering teams through product development, and driving advanced investigations and technology assessments.
Responsibilities
- Architect and validate electrical designs that balance performance, power, cost, and reliability.
- Serve as the primary technical authority in cross-functional forums, influencing product strategy and design direction.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Lead the electrical architecture and technical strategy for next-generation laptop platforms.
- Guide engineering teams through all phases of product development.
- Drive advanced investigations, technology assessments, and prototype development.
- Ensure alignment with product architecture, business objectives, and long-term platform strategy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and engineering teams to identify and resolve technical risks.
- Maintain clear paths to productization.
- Deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective solutions across Dell’s commercial, consumer, and workstation laptop portfolio.
- Leverage data, dashboards, and engineering insights to improve development predictability, product performance, and execution efficiency.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in analog and digital circuit design, high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, USB4, DDR5, DisplayPort), and power delivery.
- Strong understanding of system-level trade-offs across electrical, mechanical, thermal, firmware, and BIOS domains.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive complex programs to completion.
- Recent experience in schematic capture and PCB motherboard design.
- Experience mentoring engineers and fostering team development.
- Experience in laptop and mobile system architecture.
- Experience collaborating with global engineering teams and ODM partners.
- Experience utilizing industry-standard simulation and design tools such as Cadence, SPICE, and SI/PI analysis tools to develop and validate complex hardware solutions.
