About the Role
Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Nurse Practitioner for our DASH Program in Hauppauge. The Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric assessments, health monitoring, and medication management in an outpatient, 24 hour per day, 7 day per week crisis stabilization program.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric and crisis assessments.
- Provide medication management to children, adolescents and adults with a full range of DSM diagnoses (including co-occurring disorders) in an acute care, outpatient setting.
- Ensure the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
- Perform health monitoring, including vital signs.
- Administer intramuscular injections.
- Complete all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
- Provide covered medications through telehealth or other means, when needed.
- Attend routine supervision and team meetings.
- Complete training and ongoing maintenance of de-escalation and crisis intervention skills.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the organization's goals.
- Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
- Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Licensure (including DEA credentials) required.
- Waiver to prescribe Medication Assisted Treatment required.
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required.
- Electronic Health Record experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team required.
- Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.
