About the Role
The Payroll Manager for North America oversees US and Canadian payroll services, time administration, and related processes. This role involves partnering with technology and HR teams to ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery while driving process improvements and supporting business integrations.
Responsibilities
- Lead a staff of payroll professionals in Farmington Hills, MI and Costa Rica.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to the payroll team.
- Ensure timely processing of monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payrolls for 16,000+ employees.
- Resolve payroll issues accurately and provide positive customer service.
- Manage internal control procedures and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of federal and state withholding and year-end reporting.
- Represent the HR Service team on projects related to acquisitions, system upgrades, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll experience.
- At least 2 years of people or project leadership experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience working with ERP systems.
- Understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws, including FLSA, taxes, withholdings, deductions, and garnishments.
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, forecasting, and reconciliation.
