About the Role
As Principal Architect, you will help shape the enterprise technology strategy that connects business priorities to executable delivery across the organization. You will work across domains, programs, and leadership teams to drive platformization, alignment, and architectural clarity, ensuring our biggest initiatives deliver coherent end-to-end outcomes. This is a highly influential role for someone who thrives on solving complex enterprise challenges, reducing organizational friction, and helping teams build with confidence and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product and executive stakeholders to turn business goals into clear technology priorities, target states and strategic sequencing.
- Define and evolve enterprise target architectures, architectural principles and integration standards that support scalable platformisation and reuse.
- Consolidate and align architecture roadmaps across domains, identifying dependencies, duplication, sequencing risks and opportunities for simplification.
- Drive prioritisation of architectural initiatives, ensuring enabling platform work and architectural debt reduction are embedded into planning cycles.
- Lead end-to-end architecture across major enterprise programs, defining integrated flows, interfaces, migration strategies and non-functional requirements.
- Facilitate architecture working sessions that help teams align on ownership, trade-offs, contracts and sequencing decisions quickly and pragmatically.
- Steward enterprise standards across APIs, events, domain boundaries, versioning and shared platform capabilities while evolving standards where needed.
- Identify and manage systemic architectural risks including migration readiness, operational resilience, data consistency and performance considerations.
- Coach and support Solution Architects and specialist architects through consistent practices, lightweight governance and outcome-focused ways of working.
- Drive architectural maturity, platform consistency and long-term simplification to help Tyro deliver with greater speed, quality and sustainability.
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading architecture across large-scale, cross-domain technology environments with complex integration landscapes.
- The ability to translate business strategy into practical technology direction, balancing long-term architecture outcomes with delivery realities.
- Strong understanding of platformisation, APIs, event-driven architectures, domain boundaries and enterprise integration patterns.
- Proven experience guiding architecture across major transformation programs, including migration planning, sequencing and operational readiness.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to align senior leaders, architects and engineering teams around shared outcomes.
- Confidence navigating ambiguity, resolving competing priorities and driving pragmatic architectural decisions at pace.
- Experience establishing architecture principles, standards and lightweight governance models that enable rather than slow delivery.
- Strong appreciation for architectural risk, resilience, scalability and operational considerations within regulated or high-availability environments.
- A collaborative leadership style with a passion for uplifting architecture capability and fostering strong engineering partnerships.
- A drive to simplify complexity, reduce duplication and create sustainable technology foundations that scale with the business.
