About the Role

This role involves programming and operating CNC machines, reviewing CAD models and blueprints, generating and simulating CAM programs, and performing manual machining tasks. The position requires a strong understanding of machining strategies, tool selection, and precision measurement to produce a wide variety of projects and tooling packages.

Responsibilities

  • Review CAD models and/or blueprints to determine ideal machining strategy, including tools, speeds, feeds, and work holding techniques.
  • Generate programs using CAM (Mastercam) software and run simulations to verify and revise programs for efficiency and quality.
  • Perform measurements, cutting, and preparation of raw material stock.
  • Set up machines, including tool selection, touch-off, probing, and loading stock into work holding or fixturing.
  • Handle multiple unique setups daily or weekly, working on a wide variety of projects versus high-volume production.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (scales, calipers, micrometers, indicators) to work within specified tolerances and time constraints.
  • Perform final mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic assembly of tooling packages.
  • Communicate with programmers, management, operators, engineering, and Sales.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and update supplies as needed.
  • Comply with the Quality Policy and Quality Management system.
  • Observe and follow company safety rules and regulations.
  • Work in and contribute to an open team-oriented environment.
  • Understand the function of thermoforming tooling as it relates to manufacturing custom thermoformed products, including molds, plug assists, dies, stackers, end-of-arm tooling, seal tooling, and fixturing.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 2 years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Formal or On-the-Job Machinist training.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate with management and other coworkers.
  • Good math and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of mechanical equipment.
  • Protective safety equipment is required.
