About the Role
This Commercial Construction Internship offers a hands-on learning experience, providing practical knowledge and essential skills for a career in commercial construction and project management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining project documentation, including contracts, permits, and safety records.
- Facilitate communication between subcontractors and other parties like general contractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Assist with creating and maintaining project schedules.
- Help in ordering, tracking, and inventorying materials.
- Participate in quality control checks to ensure drywall installation meets specifications.
- Regularly visit construction sites to observe progress and understand practical aspects of drywall installation.
- Support experienced drywall installers with tasks such as measuring, cutting, and installing drywall.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations on the job site, including participating in safety meetings and inspections.
- Participate in training sessions to learn about drywall installation techniques, construction safety, project management, and other relevant topics.
- Work under the guidance of experienced professionals to gain practical insights and industry knowledge.
- Learn to read and interpret construction blueprints and plans.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Utilize construction management software for scheduling, budgeting, and project tracking.
- Help identify and resolve issues that arise during the construction process.
- Coordinate with different trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college/university in a bachelor's degree program in Construction Management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal & written.
- Ability to prioritize work to maximize efficiency.
