About the Role
As a Senior Software Quality Engineer at vCluster Labs, you will own test strategy end-to-end across a fast-moving codebase, build automation frameworks, and advocate for testability and reliability in design conversations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks spanning backend services and UI.
- Own and drive test strategy across services and features, ensuring thorough coverage tied to product goals.
- Collaborate with engineering and product to shape features early, advocate for testability, and align the team on quality standards.
- Participate in architecture and design discussions, focusing on testability and reliability.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast, high-confidence feedback.
- Perform exploratory testing to identify usability issues, edge cases, and regressions.
- Manage parallel projects in a dynamic startup environment while maintaining rigor.
Requirements
- 7+ years in QA or software testing, with at least 2 years at a senior or staff level.
- Strong hands-on skills in Go, Python, or JavaScript for building automation and tooling.
- Daily use of AI tools for PR reviews, design docs, test plans, and test case automation, with critical judgment.
- An ownership mindset, identifying needs and driving them forward proactively.
- Proven ability to remain calm under ambiguity and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for advocating quality.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD systems and hands-on experience integrating automated test suites.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes environments and distributed systems, or a strong aptitude to learn.
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills, especially for backend and infrastructure issues.
