About the Role
This senior role is central to the Risk Management function, focusing on complex AML and financial crime matters. You will serve as the primary escalation point for the business and contribute to the evolution of the function's operations, providing clear guidance and problem-solving to support business continuity.
Responsibilities
- Drive the firm's AML and financial crime processes, leading on complex escalations and helping the business navigate risk-based decisions quickly and effectively.
- Unblock matters for partners and fee earners by providing clear, commercial guidance on AML, sanctions, and financial crime issues.
- Lead engagement with regulators and law enforcement bodies alongside the MLRO, including escalations to the National Crime Agency where required.
- Strengthen the firm's risk framework by driving AML risk assessments, audits, regulatory change programmes, and capability-building across the team.
Requirements
- Significant experience in AML, financial crime, risk, or compliance within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Deep knowledge of U.K. AML regulation, sanctions requirements, and financial crime obligations, with the confidence to make and defend difficult decisions.
- Strong track record of leading AML audits, risk assessments, regulatory reviews, and the resolution of complex business acceptance issues.
- Able to influence senior stakeholders, balance risk with commercial priorities, and lead teams through competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
