About the Role
Thomson Reuters is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Editorial Tools & Services team. This role focuses on designing and deploying AI-first software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will engage in core development, integrate APIs, utilize infrastructure-as-code and containerization, and leverage AI-generative tools within an agile, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze business requirements to create technical designs and functional specifications.
- Research and identify new technologies to improve application performance and development efficiency.
- Provide creative solutions to complex technical problems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, project planning, and work estimation.
- Collaborate on software releases.
- Deliver performant, well-documented, and resilient features.
- Work with Quality Assurance to define test plans, execute testing, and resolve defects.
- Partner with system operations to ensure system stability and high availability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with C#/.NET Core, NodeJS, or Python.
- Experience with cloud-based development, preferably AWS.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong interest in using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or ChatGPT.
- Ability to validate AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, security, and performance.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, code reviews, debugging, logging, and production support.
- Knowledge of common design patterns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
