About the Role

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Editorial Tools & Services team. This role focuses on designing and deploying AI-first software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will engage in core development, integrate APIs, utilize infrastructure-as-code and containerization, and leverage AI-generative tools within an agile, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze business requirements to create technical designs and functional specifications.
  • Research and identify new technologies to improve application performance and development efficiency.
  • Provide creative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, project planning, and work estimation.
  • Collaborate on software releases.
  • Deliver performant, well-documented, and resilient features.
  • Work with Quality Assurance to define test plans, execute testing, and resolve defects.
  • Partner with system operations to ensure system stability and high availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with C#/.NET Core, NodeJS, or Python.
  • Experience with cloud-based development, preferably AWS.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong interest in using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or ChatGPT.
  • Ability to validate AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, security, and performance.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, code reviews, debugging, logging, and production support.
  • Knowledge of common design patterns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
