About the Role
The Project Manager will lead complex infrastructure projects through the planning, transaction/procurement, and implementation phases for a multi-project design and construction portfolio valued at approximately $4B within one of Ontario’s most complex infrastructure programs. Success requires strong project delivery, stakeholder management, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex infrastructure projects through the implementation phase, including design finalization, construction, commissioning, and transfer to operations.
- Manage the design and construction of large, complex infrastructure projects using traditional direct-delivery methods.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks and achieve project objectives.
- Lead presentations to senior management and stakeholders to gain approvals and demonstrate new concepts.
- Coordinate with internal and external team members to establish agendas, processes, and procedures that advance business objectives and project outcomes.
Requirements
- Background in Civil Engineering or a related discipline in the design and construction industry.
- Substantial hands-on experience managing major complex infrastructure projects, including direct management of consultants and contractors on site servicing projects (storm sewer, watermain).
- Experience working with the City of Toronto and Metrolinx as project stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and experience with project budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and construction methodologies.
- Good understanding of traditional contract forms (e.g., Construction Manager at Risk, Design-Build) and P3 delivery models (e.g., Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance-Maintain).
- Experience managing contractors, negotiating claims, scope changes, and other compliance and contractual items is preferred.
