About the Role
The Chief of Staff acts as the CEO's trusted operating partner, extending his reach across the company by representing him in meetings, carrying his priorities to the executive team, and ensuring decisions are made, communicated, and executed. This role involves driving the leadership team's operating cadence, owning critical special projects, and supporting decision-making through research and analysis. It is designed for experienced operators seeking a leadership role in a fast-growing fintech company.
Responsibilities
- Act as a proxy for the CEO, representing him in internal meetings, decisions, and escalations.
- Carry the CEO's agenda into the executive team, communicating priorities and holding leaders accountable.
- Serve as a trusted sounding board and thought partner to the CEO, providing candid counsel.
- Own the leadership team's operating cadence, including executive meetings, planning cycles, goal setting, and business reviews.
- Drive meeting preparation to ensure the CEO and attendees have the right context and are aligned on outcomes.
- Track decisions and commitments across the executive team and manage them to resolution.
- Take on complex, high-priority initiatives from scope to execution.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and implement growth and operational improvement strategies.
- Identify and troubleshoot business bottlenecks, implementing solutions with stakeholders.
- Conduct research and analysis to support CEO and leadership decision-making.
- Prepare data-driven materials for the executive team, investors, and the board.
- Manage board and investor communications.
Requirements
- 7 to 12 years of experience, ideally combining analytical foundation (management consulting, investment banking, strategy) with operating experience in a high-growth company.
- Prior Chief of Staff, business operations leadership, or GM experience strongly preferred.
- Track record of earning the trust of CEOs or C-level executives and credibly representing them to senior stakeholders.
- Executive presence and influence to engage with experienced VPs and C-level leaders.
- Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
- Strong analytical instincts, comfortable with metrics, trends, and translating data into operational decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to align stakeholders at all levels.
- AI-native mindset, utilizing AI tools to enhance output and explore further applications.
- Bias toward action and process-building, capable of creating structure in ambiguous environments.
- Experience in fintech, payments, B2B SaaS, or financial services preferred.
- New York City based; able to be in-office 3-4 days per week.
