About the Role

Grider Support Services, LLC, a partner of Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), seeks a patient-focused Patient Services Representative (Receptionist) for its ambulatory team. This role is the first point of contact for patients, ensuring exceptional customer service and a smooth experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks in patients, verifies demographics, checks insurance eligibility, and collects/processes payments.
• Answers and directs phone calls, addressing patient inquiries and redirecting urgent clinical matters.
• Schedules patient appointments and manages the appointment calendar, including new, follow-up, rescheduling, and cancellations.
• Verifies patient insurance information and processes authorizations.
• Assists with patient registration and data entry prior to appointments.
• Maintains accurate patient records in EMR and paper files, assists with chart retrieval and report generation.
• Ensures patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Participates in staff development and meetings.
• Provides excellent customer service with professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
• Performs other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• 1-2 years’ experience with front desk operations, patient scheduling, phone handling, and customer service strongly preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other medical office software.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures.
• Strong customer service skills.
