About the Role
The medical receptionist assists the department with daily front desk operations and ensures efficient workflow and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform receptionist duties including answering, screening, and routing phone calls.
- Assess telephone calls to determine urgency and refer medical queries to clinical staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Utilize EMR systems for patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
- Obtain patient signatures and ensure completion of necessary paperwork.
- Enter and scan patient data into the EMR.
- Collect and process patient payments.
- Facilitate patient flow by notifying providers of arrivals and delays.
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures.
- Obtain referrals, authorizations, and eligibility verifications.
- Notify patients of schedule changes.
- Manage office supply inventory.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide coverage for night and weekend hours as needed.
- Maintain integrity of client information.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent typing skills.
- Friendly telephone etiquette.

- 1 year of clerical experience (preferred)

- Graduate of an accredited Medical Office Administration program (preferred)
