About the Role
WATG is seeking a Senior Project Designer to establish design direction, develop architectural designs, and oversee documentation for mid-size to large-scale projects. This leadership role ensures design continuity, manages project financials, and fosters team and client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead design execution on specific projects, ensuring client expectations, design intent, budgets, and schedules are met through all phases.
- Lead multiple design teams, ensuring quality control and consistency.
- Work directly with clients to meet project-specific goals.
- Manage project delivery and confirm design follows contractual agreements.
- Oversee the design team to ensure documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
- Propose and develop effective design solutions to meet project goals.
- Verify project needs and design intent by managing design staff and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
- Monitor design concepts through design development phases.
- Prioritize, plan, and execute multiple projects efficiently.
- Implement processes that reduce risks and exposure.
- Establish and foster positive internal and external client relationships and service.
- Communicate with internal teams and clients to verify design requirements, specifications, and progress.
- Support marketing and business development activities.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing performance feedback.
Requirements
- Professional degree from an accredited institution.
- 15+ years of experience in hospitality design of mid-size to large architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels.
- Licensure and/or professional certification as appropriate.
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Sketch-Up.
- Sketching skills required.
- Experience in client management, project management, and negotiations.
- Ability to work in a team environment and supervise/motivate others.
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently and effectively.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills to effectively communicate design concepts.
- Highly effective management and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities while consistently achieving results.
