About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for identifying and managing construction projects to deliver excellent results for clients. This role assists the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager in planning, day-to-day management, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcomes of assigned construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will support in coordinating contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications, working closely with various building-wide staff and external entities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day project activities.
  • Research and compile information about required licenses and permits, manage permit approvals, and liaise with the design team and/or expediter.
  • Enforce contractor’s safety policies along with federal and state regulations.
  • Analyze, monitor, and prepare cost exposure reports and cash flow projections under supervision.
  • Maintain comprehensive budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure the final product meets Durst standards and Client’s approval.
  • Schedule and create agendas for meetings.
  • Visit construction sites regularly with Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.
  • Manage daily staff assignments and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings.
  • Serve as a resource, advocate, and catalyst for sustainability, applying unique skills for practical integration into processes and business practices.
  • Empower colleagues, consultants, tenants, and residents to prioritize and engage in environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of experience in high-rise construction.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practices.
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to devise and implement processes and strategies to resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of New York City building codes and Port Authority of NY and NJ’s TAA’s & WTCP’s.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NYC DOB, and related safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of CEQR and ULURP process is helpful for certain projects.
  • Knowledge of trade union jurisdiction issues.
  • Applied knowledge of software platforms such as Microsoft Word and Excel, scheduling software (e.g., MS Project and Primavera) as well as Visio, PowerPoint and Procore.
