About the Role
Support the tax team to manage the outsourcing of corporate tax affairs, coordinate advisors, share relevant data, and prepare responses to tax questions. This role is crucial for shaping the future of global commerce within a leading payments company.
Responsibilities
- Manage the outsourcing of corporate tax affairs through coordination of advisors, data sharing, and response preparation.
- Prepare, review, and file federal, state, local, and withholding tax reports and returns.
- Assist with tax audits, refund requests for dual taxation, incorrect assessments, and exempt property.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence, structuring, and opportunity identification.
- Identify and document risks, opportunities, and tax positions through memos.
- Lead the coordination of external tax advisors in selected markets.
- Prepare various tax forms, including tax clearance requests, CbCR notifications, self-certifications, FATCA, and CoR requests.
- Provide ad hoc tax advice to business areas with support from the direct tax team.
- Perform balance sheet substantiation.
- Maintain current knowledge of tax laws, updates, and revisions, informing management of issues affecting WP and anticipating potential tax filing conflicts.
- Monitor internal reporting software database for integrity and maintenance, investigating and reconciling discrepancies.
- Perform other related duties as needed or required.
Requirements
- ACA or CTA, part or fully qualified.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- Maintain knowledge of current tax regulations.
- Knowledge of UK corporate and withholding tax concepts, practices, and procedures.
- General understanding of global corporate and withholding tax concepts.
- Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and standards.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems using learned techniques and tools.
- Analytical and statistical examination skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to understand and apply learned concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish work to ensure critical deadlines are met.
- Ability to create spreadsheets and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
- Maintain confidentiality and establish effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and the public.
