About the Role

Join our Information Security team as a Senior Detection Engineer to shape threat detection and response at scale. You will move beyond standard SOC tasks to build unique detection capabilities, collaborate with our threat team and MSP partners, and apply innovative security engineering in a cloud-native environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop threat-led detections based on threat intelligence and threat hunting results.
  • Create novel analytic methods and techniques for incident detection.
  • Collaborate with the MSP SOC to maintain the detection catalogue and tune existing rules.
  • Develop and tune Data Loss Prevention and Insider Risk Management rules within Microsoft Purview.
  • Supervise the MSP SOC to ensure high-quality service and continuous improvement of security monitoring maturity.
  • Support the development of automated security operational performance reports using Sentinel workbooks.
  • Collaborate with tech and security teams on monitoring for cloud platforms, SaaS applications, and in-house systems.
  • Document security processes and tool configurations.
  • Contribute to security service delivery and operational documentation.
  • Support the wider security team with ISO 27001 certification and KQL-related tasks.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in KQL, with additional experience in Python and Terraform.
  • Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender suite, including Defender for Endpoints and Defender for O365.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Identity Governance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, specifically MPIP and Data Loss Prevention.
  • Experience with cloud-native logging for Azure and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with detection-as-code approaches and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to working with or inside an MSP SOC.
  • Exposure to Agile working methodologies.
  • Knowledge of attacker Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
  • Knowledge of statistics, data science, and AI/ML applied to cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 standards.
  • Desire to work in a small, fast-paced team.
