About the Role

Oversee all Oyster card sales, retail revenue, and financial assurance activities for the TfL Proteus contract, ensuring accurate sales processing, secure revenue collection, and full compliance with contractual, financial, and reporting requirements across all retail and card-based channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage sales operations across all retail channels, including ticket machines, ticket offices, and the wider retail network.
  • Accountable for end-to-end revenue integrity, ensuring that all sales data is accurately captured, reconciled, and reported.
  • Oversee all fare media and cash payment processes, ensuring timely authorisation, settlement with merchant acquirers, and reconciliation of transactions.
  • Oversee the operational and financial aspects of fare media issuance and enablement, including individual and bulk encoding, fare product loading and secure logistical distribution of the fare media.
  • Lead the preparation of sales, revenue, budget, forecast, and variance reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to the client.
  • Act as the primary commercial and revenue interface with the client, leading discussions on sales performance, revenue assurance, and financial matters.
  • Provide leadership across the team covering sales, retail operations, and revenue functions, setting clear controls, processes, and performance measures.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in retail sales, revenue, or commercial management within regulated environments.
  • Proven experience managing high-volume retail transactions, multi-channel sales environments and revenue reconciliation and apportionment.
  • Direct experience with payment services, merchant acquirers, and settlement processes.
  • Demonstrated accountability for financial risk and revenue assurance.
  • Experience working with financial reporting systems, audit & assurance frameworks and Data-driven reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with public authorities.
  • Ability to operate confidently in contractually complex, high-assurance environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven experience in fare collection systems, payments and large-scale public transport sector.
  • Experience with contactless smartcards, fare products and back office revenue and accounting systems.

  • 12 month FTC

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline is required.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an MBA are desirable
