About the Role

The Shift Supervisor will oversee and instruct security staff, providing direction and assistance to ensure a safe environment for employees and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor clients, units, and grounds at all times to ensure security and safety.
  • Examine all items entering the facility for safety.
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Record incidents and resident grievances.
  • Maintain communication with department supervisors regarding social services issues.
  • Manage entry logs for all persons entering the facility.
  • Inspect cleaning and service chores assigned to program aides.
  • Participate in the development of site goals and objectives.
  • Assist clients with questions and resolve issues.
  • Monitor video surveillance of all facility areas.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and fire hazard guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Report immediate safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
  • Solve issues diplomatically.
  • Provide coverage when necessary.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties to ensure facility efficiency.

Requirements

  • NYS Security License
  • F-80 Certificate of Fitness
  • CPR/Basic First Aid certification
  • Minimum High School Diploma / GED
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
  • General knowledge of working in a residential facility preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPPA guidelines and standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Must pass drug screening
  • May be subject to investigations before and after appointment
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed
  • Staff must continue working past their shift unless relieved or authorized to leave
  • May be required to work on or during evenings, weekends, and holidays
