About the Role

This pilot program is a Cash Plus model that combines direct cash transfers with optional supportive programming for young adults ages 18 to 24 to secure safe and stable housing. The approach recognizes that young people face both financial and non-financial constraints to housing stability.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll and track participation of the youth involved in the pilot program.
  • Submit and manage documentation for youth incentives and payments.
  • Assist in the design of promotional materials to inform and support participant engagement.
  • Follow-up with CHNY wrap-around services by communicating with identified support staff.
  • Administer periodic youth advancement workshops on housing sustainability, money management, and community resources.
  • Effectively communicate with youth and CHNY staff.
  • Coordinate with CHNY CovWorks department and CHNY Case Managers for necessary training.
  • Identify relevant housing resources for program participants and support young people in accessing those resources.
  • Aid youth with housing opportunities by connecting youth to necessary staff and support.
  • Attend in-service training as required; participate in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Enter data appropriately into online database ETO as assigned by supervisor.
  • Help youth participants build relationships within the community to ensure positive and beneficial placements and outcomes.
  • Support the ongoing research component of this program, including obtaining consents, administering surveys, supporting researchers, coordinating meetings, and supporting incentive distribution.
  • Occasionally travel to other Covenant House NY sites in the Bronx to meet with youth and case managers.
  • Provide Care Coordination services when youth is linked to a Case Manager as requested by youth.
  • Provide Case Management services when youth is not linked to a Case Manager as requested by youth.
  • Perform assessment, goal setting, implementation, service coordination, tracking and monitoring progress, and advocacy.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in youth development models or related discipline.
  • Training or experience with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention highly desired.
  • Experience in working in a multicultural, diverse environment is highly desired.
