About the Role

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide mental and emotional health counseling to clients dealing with issues such as alcohol and substance abuse, significantly impacting their treatment and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional and mental health counseling to groups or individuals.
• Build strong rapport with clients and make accurate assessments of their problems.
• Assess clients and complete comprehensive psychological evaluations for housing packages.
• Maintain detailed and concise client records.
• Provide effective treatment planning and assist clients in achieving goals.
• Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.
• Assist in detecting 'at risk' clients and developing preventative plans.
• Provide consultation and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems.
• Participate in meetings supporting the integrated health care model.
• Monitor the site’s behavioral health program, identify client service issues, and recommend improvements.
• Develop and maintain liaison relationships with community resources, specifically behavioral health and substance abuse agencies.
• Establish collaborative services and reduce duplication of care.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of special projects and pilot programs.
• Interpret Center behavioral health policies and procedures.
• Participate fully in Behavioral Health departmental and agency meetings.
• Assist in behavioral health departmental tasks, including programmatic and infrastructure design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Act as an administrator within a Social Services organization.
• Supervise students in Social Work at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Provide supervision and oversee staff activities, including psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnosis, counseling, and crisis intervention, requiring independent decision-making.

• Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
• Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
• Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be compassionate and firm.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
