About the Role

The Evening Resident Advisor provides supportive services to 20 young women aged 21-24 at a Bronx-based shelter. This role involves direct supervision, crisis de-escalation, and collaboration with case managers to ensure a safe, supportive environment while helping residents achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Directly engage, supervise, and support youth residents.
  • Maintain site cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Assist youth in achieving shelter goals and addressing immediate trauma.
  • Orient new residents to site expectations, mission, and policies.
  • Assist residents with daily routines, including morning preparation and departure for school or work.
  • Support case managers with administrative tasks, file maintenance, and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) system.
  • Escort residents to external appointments and services.
  • Maintain healthy, supportive, and professional relationships with residents.
  • Lead and participate in recreational activities and off-site trips.
  • Complete and submit incident reports by the end of each shift.
  • De-escalate crises and manage emergencies per agency protocol.
  • Ensure site safety through security protocols, including room and belonging searches.
  • Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and individual supervision.
  • Assist with program audit preparation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • 8-hour security license (provided by employer if not already held).
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to move throughout the day.
  • Strong focus on child protection and resident safety.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
