About the Role

Canada Rocket Company is building a sovereign launch capability for Canada. The Head of Propulsion Systems will lead the team responsible for propulsion and fluid systems, balancing technical engineering leadership with strategic management through the full lifecycle of design, development, operation, and reuse.

Responsibilities

  • Steer technical direction and architecture for propulsion and vehicle fluid systems.
  • Drive development, qualification, production, flight, and reuse of propulsion and fluid systems.
  • Manage schedules, budgets, resources, risks, design reviews, and supplier relationships.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee concurrent propulsion subsystem programs.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Instill a culture of extreme ownership and efficient action.
  • Coordinate efforts across departments.
  • Interface with customers, launch operators, and government agencies regarding propulsion certification.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in design, analysis, development, qualification, and operation of liquid bipropellant rocket engines.
  • Proven ability to build and lead engineering teams, including hiring and process establishment.
  • Experience in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments with iterative design-build-test cycles.
  • Experience with sizing, material selection, fabrication, and development of injectors, chambers, and nozzles.
  • Awareness of turbomachinery configurations, operations, and performance parameters.
  • Ability to perform first-order thermodynamic, fluid mechanics, and structural mechanics analyses.
  • Proficiency in designing, analyzing, and interpreting complex fluid systems.
  • Experience sizing and using fluid system components such as valves, regulators, filters, and sensors.
  • Experience sizing and using plumbing parts including tubing, piping, flanges, and fittings.
  • Experience with issue identification and resolution including FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Experience preparing for and participating in test and flight campaigns.
  • Leadership in hazardous operations (HAZOP) planning and safety culture.
  • Familiarity with CGP, EIPA, and ITAR regulations.
  • Experience with stakeholder reporting and business development.
