About the Role
The Apprentice Route Setter assists the Head and Assistant Setters in all aspects of the route setting process. This position is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity to develop the foundational skills required for a professional setting role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting, stripping, cleaning, and organizing holds
- Follow the explicit direction of the Head Setter
- Forerun and set routes up to 5.12 and boulders up to V6+
- Assist with maintenance tasks (fixing spinners, inspecting auto belays, tagging routes, etc.)
- Support competition setup and teardown
- Adhere to all safety procedures and use protective equipment appropriately
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Flexible schedule with early morning and afternoon availability
- 2+ years of climbing experience preferred
- Comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet and on ropes, ladders, and lifts
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
