About the Role

Monstercat is seeking an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven Sync & Partnerships Manager to join our team. This is a revenue-generating business development role for an experienced sync licensing professional with an existing network of music supervisors, agencies, brands, production companies, publishers, or other buyers. You'll inherit an established portfolio of client relationships while actively developing new business opportunities across film, television, advertising, gaming, trailers, digital media, and emerging entertainment platforms. We're looking for someone who thrives on ownership and doesn't wait for opportunities to come to them. The ideal candidate has experience identifying opportunities, pitching music, negotiating commercial terms, navigating rights clearances, and seeing deals through to execution. You should be equally comfortable leading a client call, responding to a creative brief, negotiating a licensing fee, or collaborating with legal and finance to close a deal. Monstercat's one-stop catalogue allows us to clear both master and publishing rights, enabling quick deal execution. Working closely with the Head of Sync & Partnerships, you'll own opportunities from initial outreach through execution and payment collection. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences to apply, especially those from underrepresented communities within the music industry. This is a 12-month fixed-term parental leave coverage contract, with the possibility of conversion to a full-time role.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with music supervisors, agencies, brands, production companies, publishers, game developers, and other sync buyers
  • Develop and manage an active sales pipeline to support departmental revenue targets
  • Identify, pursue, and close new sync licensing and partnership opportunities across film, television, advertising, gaming, trailers, digital media, and emerging entertainment platforms
  • Respond to inbound briefs by curating playlists and pitching music from the Monstercat catalogue
  • Develop a complete understanding of client needs, creative objectives, and licensing requirements
  • Collaborate with artists, managers, A&R, and marketing teams to position priority repertoire for sync opportunities
  • Negotiate commercial terms on behalf of Monstercat in collaboration with Legal and the Head of Sync & Partnerships
  • Identify opportunities within existing accounts to expand relationships and generate incremental revenue
  • Collaborate with the Sync & Partnerships team to achieve annual revenue targets
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client accounts
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients through consistent communication and exceptional service
  • Maintain regular engagement with clients to uncover new opportunities and maximize account value
  • Communicate effectively between clients and internal teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of licensing commitments
  • Present account updates, pipeline reports, and business opportunities to internal stakeholders as required
  • Own opportunities from initial outreach and creative pitching through negotiation, contracting, licensing, and payment collection
  • Facilitate the timely execution of deals, including artist approvals, rights clearances, legal review, contract execution, and internal stakeholder alignment
  • Record and track all pitches, negotiations, placements, and opportunities within the Sync & Partnerships database
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure licensing fees are invoiced and collected in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance, Operations, A&R, and Marketing teams to ensure smooth execution of licensing agreements
  • Maintain accurate records of licensing activity, revenue forecasts, pipeline status, and client communications
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in sync licensing, music publishing, recorded music, music supervision, advertising, brand partnerships, or a related field
  • Existing professional relationships with music supervisors and/or sync buyers
  • Demonstrated experience generating new business and managing client relationships
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms and managing licensing deals through execution
  • Strong understanding of music copyright, master rights, publishing rights, and sync licensing workflows
  • Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
