About the Role

This role is for a legal/privacy professional with strong exposure to technology, AI, data-driven tools, and digital business models. You will translate GDPR/EU privacy, confidentiality, contractual, and internal policy requirements into pragmatic guidance, governance processes, and controls. This is an opportunity to develop deep, group-wide data privacy expertise and responsibility while helping shape responsible AI governance in a global consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on privacy and data protection, providing practical guidance on GDPR/EU privacy, confidentiality, data use, retention, data subject rights, vendor matters, data transfers, and privacy risk questions.
  • Support core privacy governance through contributions to data protection impact assessments, transfer assessments, processing documentation, policy updates, incident/risk follow-up, training, and governance reporting.
  • Translate legal, contractual, client confidentiality, and internal policy requirements into clear control expectations and implementable guidance for business and technology teams.
  • Assess AI tools, workflows, data flows, vendor/tool documentation, prompt and output handling, human oversight, monitoring, escalation, and confidentiality safeguards.
  • Partner with engineers, IT, Information Security, data/AI teams, consultants, and product owners to understand solutions and shape compliant, business-friendly approaches.
  • Develop practical playbooks, checklists, standards, and review patterns to help teams apply Privacy by Design, Governance by Design, Security by Design, and Responsible AI principles consistently.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience in data protection, privacy, technology law, AI governance, legal/compliance, information compliance, or a related field.
  • Legal background required, for example through legal training, a degree in law or business law, an LL.M., qualification as Wirtschaftsjurist/in, or comparable professional experience in data protection, privacy, technology law, or compliance.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, EU privacy requirements, confidentiality obligations, and risk-based compliance.
  • Familiarity with German data protection requirements is a plus.
  • Experience advising on technology-related legal or compliance topics, ideally in a technology company, startup, consulting firm, SaaS environment, digital business, or technology-focused professional services environment.
  • Technology fluency and curiosity to discuss data flows, AI-enabled workflows, SaaS/cloud tools, access rights, retention, logging, vendor integrations, and technical and organizational measures with technical teams.
  • Practical familiarity with AI or generative AI use cases and related legal/privacy risks, including data sourcing, prompt and output handling, human oversight, vendor use, confidentiality, and monitoring.
  • Strong judgment, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to balance legal risk, business needs, practical implementation, and responsible innovation.
  • Professional fluency in English and at least one additional EU language is required.
  • German language skills are a plus but not required.
