About the Role

This role is pivotal within the Facilities team, working closely with the Technical Services Lead to manage building services, statutory compliance, contractor performance, energy management, and capital investment projects across the portfolio. The position involves providing technical expertise, supporting the team, and leading initiatives to enhance building performance, sustainability, and resilience. It also includes leading and developing Area Facilities Managers to ensure consistent standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Technical Services Lead to deliver exceptional facilities management across the portfolio.
  • Manage and support Area Facilities Managers, helping to develop capability and drive high performance.
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex building and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities and contractor performance across multiple sites.
  • Lead energy management initiatives to improve efficiency and support sustainability goals.
  • Manage facilities-related capital expenditure projects, from planning through to delivery.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews to ensure buildings meet legal and company standards.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Support operational teams with technical expertise, guidance, and effective communication during projects and critical incidents.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce risk, and enhance the overall member experience.

Requirements

  • A confident and technically-minded facilities professional with strong multi-site experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and balance operational excellence with effective stakeholder management.
  • Facilities management background is essential, with a strong focus on hard services.
  • Significant multi-site facilities management experience, ideally as an Area Facilities Manager or similar.
  • Experience managing freehold assets or whole-building operations.
  • Strong understanding of M&E systems, contractor management, compliance, health & safety, and building operations.
  • Experience managing outsourced service providers and delivering facilities projects, audits, or improvements.
  • Previous people management, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a strong customer focus.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities across a varied portfolio.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and calm under pressure.
  • Positive team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
