About the Role

As an OT Network/Security Administrator at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and efficiency of our OT operational network. This position is key to our ongoing efforts to modernize our infrastructure and contribute to Berlin's climate goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of all components of an OT operational network, including all associated services, documentation, monitoring, and maintenance for multiple locations in Berlin.
  • Contribute to the OT security strategy by developing mechanisms for early threat detection and implementing continuous preventive measures.
  • Participate in the continuous optimization of OT/IT systems within the OT operational network to enhance security and efficiency.
  • Support IT/OT digitalization projects within the company from a security perspective.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in IT or a similar field.
  • Experience in integrating and configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, including their design and operation.
  • Experience with systems for attack detection (SIEM, IDS, vulnerability scanners), remote access, and data diodes in an OT environment.
  • Practical experience with Ethernet/Layer 2/Layer 3 services.
  • Proficiency in operating a modern carrier network and common routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MEF).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., PROFINET, Modbus, OPC UA) is advantageous.
  • Cross-functional skills or willingness to acquire them for team operation.
  • Enjoy developing new solutions and optimizing complex OT landscapes.
  • Strong solution-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of KRITIS requirements and standards (IEC 62443, 27001, and 27019) for energy producers.
  • German language skills at a minimum C1 level.
  • Willingness to work on-site.
  • Approximately 70 percent of the requirements are sufficient for application.
