About the Role
Take a strategic lead for public health in protecting and improving the health of Barnet residents, focusing on Living and Ageing Well priorities. Collaborate with various organizations and stakeholders to enhance population health outcomes through prevention, partnership, and evidence-based strategies. Contribute to wider public health initiatives including neighbourhood working, population health management, health protection resilience, and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Take a strategic lead for public health in protecting and improving the health of Barnet residents.
- Focus on Living and Ageing Well priorities, including NHS Health Checks, cardiovascular disease prevention, cancer screening, immunisations, and healthy ageing.
- Work with council services, NHS organisations, voluntary and community sector partners, and other stakeholders to improve population health outcomes.
- Improve population health outcomes through prevention, partnership working, and evidence-based approaches.
- Form part of the Live and Age Well and Health Protection team.
- Work closely with another Public Health Strategist and Public Health Officers to deliver shared priorities through a one-team approach.
- Contribute to wider Public Health priorities, including neighbourhood working, population health management approaches, health protection resilience, emergency response activity, and cross-cover arrangements.
Requirements
- Experience of leading, managing, implementing, and evaluating public health programmes and projects.
- Experience working collaboratively with NHS partners and other stakeholders to improve health outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use evidence, data, and intelligence to identify priorities and drive improvement.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for a range of audiences.
- Ability to build effective partnerships and deliver complex programmes through collaboration and influence.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Commitment to promoting equality in the workplace and in the services the Council delivers.
