About the Role

Join Deliveroo's Data Science organization, which powers decision-making across product, commercial, and operational teams through experimentation, causal inference, and applied machine learning. This role focuses on the Delivery team, ensuring optimal rider supply to meet local demand while maintaining efficiency. You will lead a team addressing critical areas like rider pay, incentives, supply and demand balancing, and network economics within Deliveroo's unique marketplace.

Responsibilities

Own the analytical direction and impact of a defined area within Delivery.
Lead and develop a team of approximately 4 to 6 data scientists.
Provide structure, coaching, and technical direction to the team.
Oversee team work on rider pay, incentives, surge pricing, rider supply, fleet sizing, balancing supply and demand, load management, network performance, rider behavior analysis, experimentation on pay and incentives, and operational/economic lever optimization.
Identify high-value problems and guide the team towards appropriate analytical approaches.
Ensure team work leads to clear operational, product, and commercial decisions.
Apply systems thinking to understand and manage the impact of changes across the network.
Collaborate with stakeholders in Operations, Product, Machine Learning, and Engineering.
Contribute technically to analytical tasks, including investigating market changes, interpreting experiments, and unblocking complex problems.
Maintain high analytical standards.
Delegate effectively and support team development through coaching and feedback.

Requirements

Experience line managing data scientists and developing high-performing teams.
Strong background as a senior data science individual contributor.
Strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference.
Ability to reason through complex systems and understand network outcome interdependencies.
Experience translating analysis into operational, product, or commercial decisions.
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders.
Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and shape a clear roadmap.
Comfortable with ambiguity and creating structure where needed.
Ability to align teams around the most important problems.
