About the Role
The CNA Instructor will teach the NYS-approved CNA curriculum, preparing students for certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). This role involves teaching classroom, lab, and clinical components, providing instruction, assessment, and mentoring, and preparing students for the state exam.
Responsibilities
- Teach the CNA curriculum as approved by NYSED.
- Teach the classroom, lab, and clinical components of the program.
- Provide instruction, assessment, and mentoring to students.
- Prepare students to take the NYSED exam.
- Provide remediation to students if needed before and after the exam if students need to retake the certification exam.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Nursing Programs.
Requirements
- Verification of current New York State Professional Nurse Registration
- Possess two years of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill
- Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing OR two years of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility OR three years of experience teaching nursing or nursing-related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education OR completion of the State-approved "Train the Trainer" program
