About the Role
This position provides professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting, utilizing the nursing process and demonstrating competent clinical knowledge and independent nursing judgment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process, accepting accountability for outcomes.
- Apply competent clinical knowledge and skills, using independent nursing judgment.
- Assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs.
- Provide direct patient care within a designated shift based on the nursing process and scope of practice.
- Implement clinical decisions and utilize expert peers and/or management.
- Initiate actions to correct, reduce, or prevent risks to patient health status.
- Provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care, including assessment, interventions, and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team.
- Negotiate patient care tasks with family/patient within safe practice guidelines.
- Delegate patient care tasks to assigned personnel and follow up on completion and patient response.
- Use standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
- Base decisions and actions on scientific principles, established standards of care, and research findings.
- Seek assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
- Evaluate patient response to tasks performed and delegated.
- Determine and revise priorities for patient care activities based on acuity and resources.
- Update daily care plans to include appropriate algorithms for safe patient handling.
- Utilize established patient care support systems, including documentation, communication, and information.
- Assume responsibility for the development of others.
- Engage in mentoring and networking activities for professional development.
- Foster the integration of staff and/or students into the health care team.
- Promote trusting relationships and open communication at the unit level.
- Engage in the exchange of information relevant to specific patient assignments.
- Interact with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities.
- Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Must possess current Temporary or Graduate RN permit as required by state board where services will be provided.
- Documentation of recent graduation from School of nursing (for MD requirements).
- Must obtain permanent RN license within 90 days of graduation (for MD requirements).
- Ohio Nurses must be currently licensed (for OH requirements).
- Current PA Registered Nurse Temporary Permit. Permanent license must be obtained prior to the expiration of the temporary permit (for PA requirements).
- Current WV Registered Nurse Grad Permit. Permanent license must be obtained prior to the expiration of the temporary permit (for WV requirements).
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Work Type
- 12 hour shifts
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- 36 hours per week

- Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
