About the Role
This role is within the Business and Private Client Advisory division, supporting private businesses, family groups, not-for-profit, and foreign-owned businesses. You will manage and develop a client portfolio, ensuring high standards of work and client service, while also reviewing and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and administer a portfolio of clients.
- Develop budgets, manage WIPs, and bill clients.
- Meet deadlines and provide quality, timely service.
- Maintain a high level of customer service.
- Perform compliance and value-add work.
- Review financial accounts, FBT, income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and other work by junior staff.
- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
- Prepare and review workpapers, analyze client data, and set up accounts.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and technical support to team members.
- Provide technical support and guidance to an allocated team.
- Identify and develop business opportunities within the client base.
- Report on team performance and client issues to the Manager.
- Assist with new client opportunities, including meetings, advice preparation, and presentations.
- Perform administrative compliance tasks.
- Undertake other duties as required, such as interviewing clients, attending training, marketing, mentoring, and special projects.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Business Services environment within a Chartered/CPA accounting practice.
- Degree qualified and nearly/fully qualified as a CA / CPA.
- Technically proficient and up-to-date with taxation law, accounting standards, systems, and processes.
- Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements, and Instalment Activity Statements.
- Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of company secretarial matters.
- Advanced understanding of the Corporations Act, accounting standards, and tax legislation.
- Ability to review the work of junior staff and identify issues and opportunities.
- Previous experience working with and developing good relationships with clients.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines for a large client group.
- Ability to mentor, coach, motivate, and manage junior staff.
- Professional presentation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior experience with APS, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
