About the Role

As Manager, Operational Risk, you'll partner with leaders across Pepper Money to strengthen risk management practices and support a proactive risk culture. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Operational Risk, you'll provide Line 2 oversight, challenge and guidance to help the business identify, assess and manage operational risks while delivering practical solutions that support strong customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify, assess and manage operational risks in line with Pepper Money's risk management framework.
  • Facilitate and challenge Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), ensuring risks, controls and actions are clearly defined and appropriately managed.
  • Provide constructive challenge on the design and effectiveness of controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen risk outcomes.
  • Support the uplift of operational risk capability across the business through training, coaching and practical risk guidance.
  • Review incidents and issues to ensure they are appropriately recorded, escalated and managed, while supporting meaningful root cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
  • Partner with project teams to identify and manage risks associated with business change initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Analyse operational risk data to identify emerging trends, themes and insights that support informed decision-making and governance reporting.
  • Maintain high-quality risk information within the GRC system, ensuring records are accurate, complete and up to date.
  • Champion a strong risk culture by promoting accountability, ownership and effective risk management practices across the organisation.

Requirements

  • Experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance or a related risk discipline within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and the practical application of operational risk frameworks.
  • Experience facilitating risk and control assessments and partnering with stakeholders to improve risk outcomes.
  • Strong incident and issue management experience, including root cause analysis and remediation oversight.
  • Experience working with GRC systems and maintaining risk, control and action records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence stakeholders and present complex concepts in a simple, practical way.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify trends, assess impacts and recommend effective solutions.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships, work collaboratively across teams and bring a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to risk management.
  • Exposure to project risk, business continuity or major change initiatives, which would be highly regarded.
