About the Role

As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at Monarch House, you will support the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) team in progressing patient goals. You will work with school-aged children, and potentially pre-school children or adults, in virtual or face-to-face interactions. You will follow SLP-developed programming under regular supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the SLP treatment plan and conduct treatment sessions based on established therapy goals.
  • Understand and adhere to treatment objectives until modified by the supervising SLP.
  • Determine the need for and develop intervention materials for SLP review.
  • Document treatment sessions with progress notes reflecting patient performance, behaviors, and relevant information, adhering to CBI standards.
  • Contribute to patient and stakeholder experience and team collaboration within professional boundaries.
  • Elicit, collect, and record patient response data.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, family, and significant others' personal health information.
  • Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating when needed.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of SLPA experience is required.
  • Secondary courses in linguistics or language development or a Post Graduate Certificate in Communicative Disorders.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, be flexible, and be open to community-based work.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for daily use.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
