About the Role
We are seeking an Insurance Strategy Consultant to support strategy, growth, transformation, and operating model engagements for clients across the insurance sector. This role is suited for someone with 2–4 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or insurance advisory, ideally with exposure to carriers, brokers, reinsurers, InsurTechs, or insurance-focused financial services organizations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical capability, structured problem-solving skills, and a practical understanding of the insurance industry. They should be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, conducting market and competitor analysis, building business cases, and supporting recommendations that help insurance clients improve growth, profitability, customer experience, digital capabilities, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Support strategy and transformation engagements for insurance clients, including life, health, property & casualty, commercial, specialty, reinsurance, brokerage, and InsurTech segments.
- Conduct market, competitor, customer, distribution, product, and regulatory research to identify strategic opportunities and risks.
- Analyze business performance, operating models, cost structures, distribution channels, underwriting models, claims operations, and digital capabilities.
- Build financial models, business cases, market sizing analyses, scenario models, and executive-level strategy materials.
- Help develop recommendations related to growth strategy, market entry, product innovation, distribution strategy, digital transformation, operating model design, and performance improvement.
- Support client workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions with clear agendas, synthesis, and follow-up actions.
- Translate complex findings into concise, executive-ready presentations and written deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with senior consultants, managers, partners, and client teams to drive workstreams from analysis through recommendation.
- Monitor insurance industry trends, including AI, analytics, embedded insurance, digital distribution, claims automation, underwriting modernization, regulatory change, and InsurTech innovation.
- Contribute to proposal development, thought leadership, and internal practice-building initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a strong academic institution; business, economics, finance, engineering, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, public policy, or related fields preferred.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, management consulting, corporate strategy, insurance advisory, or a related insurance-focused role.
- Demonstrated experience working with or advising insurance companies, brokers, reinsurers, InsurTechs, or insurance-related financial services organizations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous business questions and develop clear analytical approaches.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with Excel-based modeling and business case development.
- Strong PowerPoint / executive presentation skills, with the ability to communicate insights clearly and persuasively.
- Understanding of core insurance business functions such as underwriting, claims, distribution, pricing, product development, policy administration, reinsurance, or customer operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and working with cross-functional teams.
- MBA, master’s degree, or relevant graduate degree is a plus.
- Prior experience at a top-tier consulting firm, strategy practice, or insurance-focused advisory firm.
- Experience supporting C-suite or senior executive strategy projects.
- Familiarity with insurance technology platforms, core system modernization, data analytics, AI use cases, or digital transformation.
- Exposure to commercial insurance, specialty lines, reinsurance, life and annuities, group benefits, or personal lines.
- Experience with market entry strategy, M&A strategy, due diligence, growth strategy, operating model design, or cost transformation.
- Knowledge of regulatory, capital, and profitability dynamics in the insurance industry.
- Experience with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Python, SQL, or other analytics platforms is a plus but not required.
