About the Role
BDO Australia is seeking a Senior Manager, AML/CTF to lead the ongoing delivery and enhancement of our Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) framework and compliance activities. This role will oversee the effective delivery and continuous enhancement of BDO's AML/CTF program, supporting risk-based assessments of clients and staff, maintaining robust controls, and acting as a key liaison with regulators.
Responsibilities
- Manage compliance activities in line with the AML/CTF Act and associated regulatory obligations
- Act as the primary liaison with AUSTRAC, overseeing regulatory engagements, reporting and regulatory enquiries
- Engage and report to the Board, Executive Leadership Team, and governance forums on AML/CTF risks, obligations, regulatory developments, and program effectiveness
- Partner with Service Line Quality Leaders and stakeholders to embed AML/CTF requirements, controls and processes across the firm, providing practical guidance on AML/CTF risks and obligations
- Develop, implement, and maintain AML/CTF policies, procedures, and systems to support compliance and mitigate risk
- Coach, mentor and support AML team members, developing capability through knowledge sharing and leadership.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading an AML/CTF program or framework
- Strong knowledge of the AML/CTF Act and Rules
- Experience communicating and reporting to AUSTRAC
- Prior team leadership experience overseeing geographically dispersed teams
- Familiarity with AML/CTF due diligence platforms (FirstAML highly regarded)
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to influence, advise and report to Executive stakeholders.
