About the Role

The Head of Off-Platform Monetisation will shape and elevate how Nine Publishing’s iconic newsroom brands reach, engage, and monetise audiences across third-party platforms. This role blends strong commercial acumen with data-driven insights to develop unified distribution strategies across social media, podcasts, and video that drive revenue while protecting and growing our core subscription base. You will collaborate closely with editorial, sales, and strategy teams to champion operational efficiency and maximise the commercial potential of our content.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a unified, data-driven distribution strategy across social media, podcasts, and video tailored to distinct publishing brands.
  • Identify and capitalise on high-value monetisation opportunities across off-platform channels in partnership with editorial and sales teams.
  • Implement process and workflow improvements to make social content production and distribution more efficient across newsrooms.
  • Ensure all off-platform initiatives complement, protect, and drive audience growth back to core paywalled product suite.
  • Track, report, and evaluate metrics to build business cases, refine strategies, and improve overall ROI.
  • Work closely with the broader Strategy & Business team and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment with group goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in leading off-platform distribution and monetisation strategies in a media or digital environment.
  • Expertise in partnering with sales and editorial teams to generate revenue while maintaining a deep understanding of paywall and subscription models.
  • Exceptional data analysis skills with a proven track record of converting audience metrics into actionable strategic growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimise content production processes to increase efficiency across matrixed teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align diverse, cross-functional teams and drive complex initiatives forward.
  • A proactive approach to adopting emerging technology, new media formats, and evolving distribution trends.
  • Must already have the right to lawfully work and live in Australia.
